In monocotyledonous plants, as well as few dicotyledonous plants, fibrous roots are present.

Explanation:

  • Fibrous root is also called the adventitious root which is the characteristic of monocotyledonous plants.
  • Here there’s no single primary root from where branches rise, but a huge number of small and thin root fibres arise from the end of the stem.
  • This type of root system cannot support much weight of plants, so the monocots aren’t much big plants.
  • These roots are sometimes seen in dicotyledonous plants as accessory roots coming out from stems of banyan, money plant etc.
  • Also during vegetative propagation of the dicots, adventitious roots do arise.
