The Constitution of India has made India a federal country in structure but unitary in spirit. That means, though the Constitution has clearly mentioned the two sets of government, at the centre and at the state; making India a federal country and distribute power between the center and the state. But in working the center is more powerful than the state government. So India is a federation with a very strong central government.
