India does not share it's land boundary with Sri Lanka. It was connected by Palk Strait, that runs between Tamil Nadu and Mannar district of Sri Lanka.

According to historical accounts, it is believed that this is the bridge made by Lord Rama with them help of vanar sena ( Ram setu ) to get into Sri Lanka to save his wife from the hands of the Asura King, Ravana. Also known as Adam's bridge, it runs from Dhanushkodi (Rameshwaram deep) to Mannar district of Sri Lanka.
