India's relationships via land are much older than maritime contacts because of these reasons:

(1)- in order to get to the sea route, one has to build a strong boat or ship and in ancient times there was no such technology till ivc.

(2)- the people were more accomodative to sedentary lifestyle because they could get all the things for their subsistence near to them rather than depending on foreign states via sea.

(3)- india was actually quit unknown before 1500bce.to other countries.but her internal land routes were present in the form of

harrapans(exception of this can be her relations with Mesopotamians.

(4)- barter exchange system required instant exchange of specific objects and it could have been a reason why people choosed land as a convenience.

(5)-low productivity and technological development of people( they were much close to land priorities inspite of wandering through sea).
