India is a big country, compared to most countries in the world, seventh largest by land area and second biggest in human population. It's land area is 3.287 million sq. Km. and the population is 1.252 billion. Consequently, the country's development model has to have several goals; some of these are as follows:
1) Eradication of poverty.
2) Control of population growth.
3) Building of infrastructural facilities.
4) Delivery of healthcare facilities to its citizens.
5) Upgradation and maintenance of its defence facilities.
6) Growth and improvement of its educational facilities.
7) Reduction of illiteracy and spread of adult education.
8) Spurring industrial growth.
9) Upkeep and widening of public utilities.
10) Management of its natural resources.
11) Meeting the energy requirements of the domestic and industrial sectors.
12) Pursuing policies in improving the economic status of its people.
