Energy is required to ensure and sustain economic development. It is needed to cook, to provide light and heat, to propel vehicles and to drive machinery in industries. With the increase in population, rise in demands, greater industrialization, increased consumption, changes in transportation our energy requirements have and will increase. In order to meet our growing energy requirements and to deal with the potential scarcity of our energy resources, we must look for alternative and tap non conventional sources of energy, which is referred to as the "Energy of the Future". Geothermal energy is one such form:

1. Geothermal energy is the heat and electricity produced from the interiors of the Earth.

2. Hot springs which are produced by geothermal heated ground water of the Earth's crust which produces steam when it reaches Earth's surface can be used to drive turbines and generate electricity.

3. Geothermal energy can be harnessed to meet our growing energy requirements as it is inexhaustible and renewable.
