Gases are of various kinds, and some of them have been termed as Inert.


Inert gas means noble gas like helium, xenon, etc.


Their outer most shell of the atom is complete.


Therefore they do not lose their electron, and neither do they gain an electron from other atomic structure to complete their shell because it is already completed previously.
