Answer:

If by the individual we mean the citizen at large then living in a fraud ridden corrupt society would mean added cost for the goods and services he gets from the providers private and public as a direct additional cost or an indirect cost in bad quality goods needing repairs and early replacement as for public sector services these will not only be poor but you may need to pay a bribe for a proper service. In addition in corrupt societies the safety of the citizen will be in jeopardy as these practices will generate thugs and mafias to protect them.

As for the impact on companies it would be similar to what was said above as companies are also consumers of goods and services but decent companies should have more power than the idividul in scrutinising the records, credibility and practices of their goods and services providers.

In a democratic and semi democratic societies consumer watch dogs, trade unions and other activits will cry foul and malpractices can be eliminated or at least moderated with the help of the law courts. In dictatorships one have to grin and bear it waiting a miracle or a coup deta or foeign intervention.
