The scientific measuring and recording of the shock, intensity and vibrations of earthquakes is called seismography. The seismograph is an instrument used to measure earthquakes. Earthquakes produce shock waves called seismic waves. These waves can be detected using seismographs, thus, informing us about the major catastrophe. A record of the major earthquakes are made using seismographs. It thus plays a major role in detecting earthquakes.
