(1) 4 and 5

Solution:- Let X = 4 and Y = 5

And, N = 3

Therefore,

D = (Y-X)/(n+1) = (5-4)/3+1 = 1/4

So, the three rational Numbers between 4 and 5 are:

(X +D) , (X+2D) , (X+3D)

=> 4 + 1/4) , (4 + 2 × 1/4) , (4 + 3 × 1/4)

=> (16+1/4) , (8+2/4) , (16+3/4)

=> 17/4 , 18/4 , 19/4

(2) 1/2 and 3/5

Let X = 1/2 and Y = 3/5

N = 3

D = (Y-X)/(N+1)

=> (3/5 - 1/2) / 3+1 = (6-5/10) / 4 = 1/10/4 = 1/10 × 1/4

=> 1/40

Then , three rational Numbers between 1/2 and 3/5 are :

( X +D) , (X+2D) , (X+3D)

=> (1/2 + 1/40) , (1/2 + 2 × 1/40) , ( 1/2 + 3 × 1/40)

=> (21/40) , (22/40) , (23/40)

(3) -1 and 1

Solution :- Let X = -1 and Y = 1

N = 3

D = (Y-X)/N+1 => (1-(-1))/3+1 = 1+1/4 = 2/4 = 1/2

Then ,three rational Numbers between-1 and 1 are:

(X+D) , (X+2D) , (X+3D)

=> (-1 + 1/2) , (-1 + 2 × 1/2) , (-1 + 3 × 1/2)

=> -2+1/2 , (-2 + 2/2) , (-2 + 3/2)

=> -1/2 , 0/2 , 1/2.
