Apoptosis is programmed cell death.

Explanation

It is the set of biochemical changes occurring in the cell leading to changes in the cell like shrinkage, blebbing, fragmentation, chromatin condensation or decay proceeding to cell death.

Signals triggering Apoptosis

1. Internal triggers include Caspases are the proteolytic enzymes that trigger apoptosis by splitting proteins in nucleus and cytoplasm. On the other hand cell could shrink, develop blebs and can degrade its own chromatin.

2. External triggers include mechanical injury or exposure to harmful agents or chemicals as a result organelles get damage or may swell to leak contents out causing inflammation of tissues present in surroundings.
