Article -51 of Indian Constitution enshrines PROMOTION OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND SECURITY which says that the state shall endeavour to -

Promote international peace and security.

Maintain just and honourable relations between nations.

Foster respect for international law and treaty obligations in the dealings of organised people in one another; and

Encourage settlement of international dispute by Arbitration”.

Article -51 obligates state to promote and encourage respect for International law and agreements between states. States here mean countries, as in international law term state is used. But,the international law has no supremacy over Municipal law under the Indian Constitution. But while interpretation of statute, Indian courts will construe it by not violating the settled or established principles of International law.
