• The name of the original text is "Jimmy Valentine". It was written by William Sydney Porter (1862-1910), popularly known as O. Henry, was a famous short story writer from the United States of America. 'Jimmy Valentine' has been taken from the collection 'Roads of Destiny' (1909).

• Originally Jimmy Valentine was a excellent burglar. But after his release from prison, he altered himself as Ralph Spencer.

• He is going to marry Miss Annabel Adams two weeks from now. Her father is a bank owner. The Elmore Bank has just put in a new safe and vault and insisted on an inspection by everyone. It was that vault, in which Agatha did shut a nine year old girl.

• According to Mr. Adams, "There isn't a man nearer than little Rock who can open that door". Vault was not safe for the child because there was not 'enough air'.

• Agatha's mother broke down in tears. It was little Agatha, for whom all troubles had to be endured. Therefore Annable's father was worried about Agatha. At last the girl was nicely rescued by Jimmy Valentine.

Annabel's father, Mr. Adams had many reasons to worry about Agatha. To begin with, (1) Agatha accidentally got stuck in the vault. Mr. Adam had not even done the (2) settings when the child got trapped inside. Since it was a brand new vault, with an equally (3)new locking mechanism, it was extremely difficult to force it open without pre-settings. Also, the closest person who could possibly open it, was (4) miles away, in the city. Getting to the city, bringing that individual along and then opening the vault would take a lot of time. There (5) wasn't enough air in the safe for the child to breathe until then! To complicate matters further, (6) Agatha was just a child and wouldn't be able to handle the situation for long. She might already be having panic attacks. What was worst was that (7) Agatha was Mr. Adams' own granddaughter, who was trapped in the vault owned by her grandfather.
