total number of square= area of rectangle÷ area of square

= area of the rectangle=lb= 8cm×4cm= 32cm^2.

area of square is =side^2 (2cm)^2=4cm^2.

total number of squares= 32cm^2÷4cm^2= 8

therefore 8 squares can be got by dividing the rectangle
