Iron is used for the construction of bridges because :-

→ Iron is a very hard and strong metal .

→ Iron is more or less cheap .

→ Iron can hence take heavy loads .

→ Hence iron is durable and it can be capable of taking the load of bridges .

Thus it is used for constructing bridges .

Explanation :-

Θ Heavy vehicles and trucks travel through the bridges .

Θ Thus the bridge has to be made of such a metal which is highly durable and strong .

Θ We cannot use any other metal as no other metal is as strong as iron .

Θ Iron is also comparatively cheaper than many metals .

Θ Hence iron is chosen as the metal for constructing bridges .
