Ahimsa was a term used to reffer : non- violence. This was raised by Mahatma Gandhi. In today's world ahimsa is not at all relevant because if the people infront us try to start up a war and if we keep silence then obviously loss is ours. For example : if pakistan starts a war against India and we Indians keep silence then one day they'll start making bigger wars...!!! When the britishers won the war and came into India without any weapon, for ruling, on that time they were just 3000 britishers, seeing their success the Indians started clapping, on that time Indians who clapped were more than 10 lakhs, If on the spot they would have started throwing stones on britishers instead of clapping then they would not have to face those bad days under british rule....!!!

Yes, ahimsa is relevant in the twenty first century

  • Ahimsa is the principle of non-violence.
  • The principle of non-violence is an integral part of Indian traditional values for a long time.
  • It has been emphasized by Buddhism, Jainism in ancient history and Gandhi in modern times.
  • Ahimsa stresses the principle of not causing physical harm to anyone.
  • This principle prophesied for ages is still relevant to contemporary times. At a time when we are far from an ideal state of affairs, it is important to practice ahimsa.
  • It could mitigate communal violence, domestic violence, harassment, persecution, rapes, and protest violence and improve relations and harmony between diverse groups coexisting in society.
  • Therefore ahimsa is and shall always be a relevant value for human society.
