Loneliness  is a universal human emotion that is both complex and unique to each individual. Because it has no single common cause, the prevention and treatment of this potentially damaging state of mind can vary dramatically.

For example, a lonely child who struggles to make friends at his school has different needs than a lonely old man whose wife has recently died. In order to understand loneliness, it's important to take a closer look at exactly what we mean by the term "lonely," as well as the various causes, health consequences, symptoms, and potential treatments for loneliness.
Loneliness, according to many experts, is not necessarily about being alone. Instead, if you feel alone and isolated, then that is how loneliness plays into your state of mind. For example, a college freshman might feel lonely despite being surrounded by roommates and other peers. A soldier beginning his military career might feel lonely after being deployed to a foreign country, despite being constantly surrounded by other troop members

Depends.

Look, you may be insane, at the top level, but you see - change is a real thing, you see the realest thing around you is the nature itself, nature that bears every sort of change , be it a good or bad one. Change is the thing you can really count on.

Now, coming to that loneliness. No, it's not that you ain't sane. I guess you mean ECCENTRIC/WEIRD/OUTCAST/ETC by the word insane, well - people aren't really like that all the time, like evolution - people get themselves adapted to their environment when there's a need, like a defense mechanism. Being lonely is neither good nor bad, in fact - just a bit empty - unless you lack some empath senses and perhaps you don't mind that void at all, like fully. Loneliness is a reaction, rarely a choice, if it sustains you - then it's good, if it doesn't - then it's not good. Nothing to do with your sanity, you're completely sane if you choose to be lonely - cuz you're just adapting yourself to the harsh conditions for your survival at that moment. In fact, the worst serial killers did keep a company, not a stagnant, a dynamic one.

Loneliness is a bit negative word in itself, did you mean alone ? Being alone is a choice, being lonely is a compulsion. Neither of them makes you insane, because - well they don't last forever like your personality.

Well, if you consider yourself insane, then fellow, you can entitle you to any name as long as it feels good to be in that bubble, in fact, you know - it's the matter of change, eggs do hatch and you do get to step out of your bubble.

Life is a blend of both, staying aloof to contemplate your existence and at the same time - fulfilling what you're here for - life

In short, no it's not insane that you choose loneliness over this cacophony of this crowd.
