Answer:

given √3 = 2.732

to evaluate (√3+1)/(√3-1)

first step is to eliminate the radical sign (√) in the denominator by multiplying both Nr and Dr by

the conjugate of Dr ie (√3+1)

= [(√3+1)(√3+1)]/ [ (√3-1)(√3+1)]

= (√3+1)^2/(3-1) [ (a-b)(a+b) = a^2-b^2 ]

= (3 + 1 + 2√3)/2

= (4+2√3)/2

= 2(2+√3)/2

= 2+√3 [ 2 cancels out in Nr and Dr ]

now putting the value of √3 in the above simplified expression,

2+√3 = 2+1.732 = 3.732 Answer
