Any kind of energy which exists in the world is only scalar. As potential energy may be negative due to gravitational force(g) but still the potential energy is scalar quantity.
Similarly, Power,Kinetic energy, Mechanical energy, Work ,etc. all are scalars as they are forms of energy only.
