Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

2x +3y+9=0

a1 = 2, b1 = 3 and c1 = 9

4x+6y  = 18

∴ 4x + 6y - 18 = 0

a2 = 4, b2 = 6 and c2 = -18

If the pair equations is consistent,

then,

   \frac{a1}{a2} =\frac{b1}{b2}= \frac{c1}{c2}  ( condition)

   ∴  \frac{2}{4} = frac{1}{2} ,  \frac{3}{6} =frac{1}{2} , but \frac{9}{-18} = \frac{1}{-2}

hence we can say given pair of equations is inconsistent.

but,

2x +3y+9=0

a1 = 2, b1 = 3 and c1 = 9

4x+6y + 18  = 0

a2 = 4, b2 = 6 and c2 = 18

If the pair equations is consistent,

then,

   \frac{a1}{a2} =\frac{b1}{b2}= \frac{c1}{c2}  ( condition)

   ∴  \frac{2}{4} = \frac{3}{6} = \frac{9}{18} = \frac{1}{2}

hence we can say given pair of equations is consistent.
