Is there a difference in how sugar and food taste if your nose is blocked? If so, why might this be happening?

when our nose is blocked we do not get the smell of the food..............both smell and the flavors actually combine together to provide us the so called taste.......so in the absence of smell or aroma of the food we fail to taste it well.......and our taste buds have nothing to do with that.........!!!!
