Heya,

It is easier to swim in an ocean than in a river. This is because sea water contains dissolved salts. This high amount of dissolved  salts makes sea water more denser. Water which are more denser such as sea water exert more upward pressure known as Buoyant force. Due to the presence of high upward force it becomes easy for us to swim in sea water than river water.

Due to high salt in the sea water the density of the sea water is higher as compared to river water. So as the density increases the buoyant force also increases. So the buoyant force is higher in the sea water as compared to river water. So it is easier to swim in the sea water as compared to the river water.
