Given the probability of contamination, we can get the amount of contaminated water :

Probability = 0.001

From the total capacity of 100 L which is equivalent to 100000ml we can get the capacity contaminated :

0.001 × 100000 = 100ml

Contamination rate is :

30000 microorganisms per ml

Thus the total microorganisms is :

30000 × 100 = 3000000 microorganisms.

The death rate is :

0.23 minutes for 1ml that is it takes 0.23 minutes to kill 30000 microorganisms.

The total time taken is thus :

3000000 / 30000 × 0.23 = 23 minute.

The time taken is thus :

23 minutes.
