consider the following transformation of a compound P.

   optically active (R) <----- (i)NaNH₂, (ii) C6H5COCH3 (iii) H3O⁺/∆ ---- P (C9H12) -------(i) X(reagent) , (ii) KMnO4/H2SO4/∆ ----> Q (C8H12O6) (optically active acid)

Choose the correct option (s)

solution : see the diagram, p reacts with NaNH2 and form compound A then compound A in the presence of H3O⁺ heating with ph CO Me giving compound R as shown in figure, so option (D) is wrong.

now p reacts with hydrogen in the presence of  pd - C and quinoline reagent and form B as shown in figure , now B which is being heated in the presence of potassium permanganate in acidic medium gives optically active acid Q as shown in figure.

so option (B) X is pd - C/quinoline , is correct.

and (C) is correct

Therefore options (B) and (C) are correct choices.
