Let the number of apples that kavi has = x
number of apples that kural has = y
if kural gives kavi 4 apples,
x+4 = 3(y-4)
⇒ x+4 = 3y - 12
⇒ x = 3y -16
if kavi gives kural 26 apples,
y+26 = 2(x-26)
⇒ y + 26 = 2x - 52
⇒ y + 26 = 2(3y-16) -52
⇒ y + 26 = 6y - 32 -52
⇒ 26+52+32 = 6y-y
⇒5y = 110
⇒ y = 110/2 = 22
x = 3×22-16 = 66-16 = 50
So kavi has 50 apples and kural has 22 apples.

let no of apples with kavi be x
no of apples with kural be y.
according to problem,
x+4=3(y-4)
x+4=3y-12
2(x-26)=y+26
y=2x-78 substitute in first one
x+4=3(2x-78)-12
x=50,y=22
