Explanation: Abdul Ghaffar Khan was a Pashtun leader who was born in Utmanzai, India in 1890. Pashtuns were Muslim belonging to the ethnic group of Afghanistan and Pakistan. He was very impressed by the preaching of Mahatma Gandhi and was also known as the Frontier Gandhi.
He met Gandhi and made his debut in politics in the year 1919 during the unrest over the Rowlatt Acts. The very next year he joined the Khilafat movement, which sought for a strong spiritual ties between the Indian Muslims and the Turkish sultan.
In 1929 after attending the Indian National Congress he founded the movement Khudai Khitmatgar (also known as Red Shirt movement).
