As per the question.
we have a circular track of radius 100m.
and athlete covers its circumference in 40s.

So , It means that in 40s , He reaches the point from where he started . Hence every 40 seconds his displacement becomes zero.

So after 2 min 40 seconds , which is 160 seconds .
He will cover the circumference 4 times ( 160/40).
Hence his displacement will be zero because he will reach the same point from where he started.

2.

Total distance covered by the athlete would be
no. of rounds he took * circumference of track.

No. of rounds he took
= Total time he took/ time for completing one round.
= 160s / 40s
= 4 .

Total distance covered is
= 4 * 2πr
=4 * 2 * 3.14 * 100
= 4* 628
=2512 m
