Longitude and latitude are expressed in this way because Earth is a sphere and any line drawn through Earth then is a circle

To point out any geographical location on the surface of our planet we mainly use the latitudinal and longitudinal co-ordination system.

Now we all know that our planet is mostly spherical in shape and that's why the lines of latitude and longitude are also curved just like the circumference line of a circle.

That's why we use angle measurements for the latitudes and longitudes due to their curvature on the earth's surface.
