In Bryophyllum, its leaves bear leaf buds which originate along the leaf margins ,these leaf buds gradually start bearing roots known as adventitous roots which lead to the growth of new individual plant whereas the leaves of jasmine don't have the capability to produce buds .
That's why leaves of Bryophyllum fallen on the ground produce new plants where as the leaves of jasmine won't.

Bryophyllum leaves have buds on it, and as it comes in contact with soil, it produces plantlets whereas the jasmine doesn't bear such buds on its leaft blade..
