Length of a rectangle exceeds its breadth by 4m.if the perimeter of the rectangle is 84m find its length and breadth

Let the Lenght of rectangle be " x " m .

So the breadth will be ( x - 4 ) m .

We know that

perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( lenght + breadth )

84 = 2 ( x + x - 4 )

84 = 2 ( 2x - 4 )

84 = 4x - 8

84 + 8 = 4x

4x = 92

x = 92/4

x = 23 m

So the Lenght of rectangle is 23 m and the breadth is 19 m

length=x+4
perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b)
=2(x+4+x)
84 m =2(2x+4)
84 m =4x+8
84-8 m =4x
76 m =4x
19m =x

breadth=x=19 m
length=x+4=19+4 m=23 m
