Subject Loudspeakers cause noise pollution

Sir

Through the medium of your esteemed newspaper i wish to express my concern over a serious quarrel that took place in my colony due to the use of Loudspeakers at a public place. Our neighbours were so angry at the party organisers for using Loudspeakers that they got into a physical fight with them and the police had to be called to resolve the issue. It is most unfortunate that the unpleasant incident has caused disharmony among the people. Besides leading to discord the lord also cause noise pollution. The large number of workshops, offices, shops, and ever increasing traffic are already the main sources of noise pollution in public places. The nuisance further caused by loud speakers increase mental stress and intolerance among people.

The concerned authorities should ban the unauthorized use of Loudspeakers at public places. Even if permission for use Loudspeakers is granted, it should be time bound.

I hope you will publish my letter in your reputed newspaper so that the concerned authorities can take necessary steps to tackle this situation.

Yours sincerely

XYZ.

Hope it helps

Subject: The nuisance of insensitive use of loudspeakers.

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to express my displeasure on the excessive use of loudspeakers (PA Systems) in our towns and cities.

Festivals are a time of joy everyone look forward to each year. Festivals are a part of our personal, religious, and social life. The problem is not celebration of festivals, but the manner in which it is celebrated. Most of the important festivals are celebrated with loudspeakers at high volume throughout the day and all night long. There are restaurants, cafes and night clubs where loud music is played late into the night in the name of birthday celebrations and parties.

These are all public disturbance and a major cause of noice pollution. Noise pollution is known to cause headache, irritation, and other health problems. They disturb the sleep of the public. It interfere with the students studying for exams or doing their homeworks. We must also have consideration for the sick people who want quiet time to rest and to sleep properly.

Therefore, I feel that the use of loudspeakers and loud music should be banned or restricted in residential areas and defaulters should be severely penalised.

Yours sincerely,

N. S. GOPAL
