Linear strain and Poisson's ratio for a material are 0.02 and 0.4 respectetively its lateral strain is

\huge\underline{\underline{\bf \orange{Solution-}}}

\large\underline{\underline{\sf Given:}}

  • Linear strain = 0.02
  • Poission's ratio = 0.4

\large\underline{\underline{\sf To\:Find:}}

  • Lateral strain

We know that ,

\large{\boxed{\bf \blue{Poission's\:ratio=\dfrac{Lateral\:strain}{Linear\: strain} }}}

\implies{\sf 0.4=\dfrac{Lateral\:strain}{0.02} }

\implies{\sf Lateral\: strain = 0.4×0.02 }

\implies{\bf \red{ Lateral \: strain = 0.008} }

\huge\underline{\underline{\bf \orange{Answer-}}}

Option (c)

Lateral strain is {\bf \red{0.008}}
