Water is a compound as it is made up of two different elements/substances
ie.H2O hydrogen and oxygen
Also it doesn't shows the property of constituent particles
for example:oygen helps in burning but water doesn't
Also it's constituents can't be separated by simple physical methods
Thanks
this is up to point you will get 5 marks for this

water is a compound and not a mixture because
1 It cannot be separated into its constituents by physical process.
2.it is made up of two element chemically bounded together.
3.it shows totally different property from its constituents. example - water is liquid while oxygen and hydrogen are gases.
4. it has fixed composition of particles I.e 1:8
5. it has fixed boiling point 100*celcius .
hence water is a compound

hope it help u
