Echinoderms and chordates have many common characters and are mostly grouped together as:
i. Both are deutrostomes, and grow radially.
ii. Deutrostomeshave a blastopore that develops into an anus. The blastopore is the first hole that is made into a cavity as more cells are developing in the organism. The hole become the tail end or the anus of the echinoderms and chordates.
iii. Deutrostomes have indeterminate cleavage, possible to have identical twins.
