1-  when an object is moving then friction is directly proportional and perpendicular to normal force.
2- Friction is independent on area of contact so long as there is area of contact.
3- Coefficient of static friction is slightly greater than the coefficient of kinetic friction.
4- Within rather large limits, kinetic friction is independent on velocity.
5-It depend upon the nature of material in contact.

In addition to the points mentioned in the other answers,

Friction always acts in the direction Opposite to the direction of motion. It is active only as long as there is some surface of contact between the two bodies.
