Iron,Copper,Zinc,Gold,Silver,etc. are the metals or we can say that elements having a valency 1+,2+,3+ are the metals
iodine, chlorine,oxygen,carbon,etc. are the non metals or we can say that elements having a valency of 1-,2-,3-,4 are the non-metal
