out of 16, 2 are supplied by air (carbon and oxygen) while water supplies hydrogen. the rest 13 are supplied by the soil. out of these 13 6 of them are called macro nutrient because they're very important to plant and they require them in large quantities. the rest 7 are called micro nutrients as the aren't that important and plants require them in small quantities

macro nutrients- nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulfur

micro nutrients include iron, zinc, copper, chlorine, boron, manganese, molybdenum
