Answer: 1.  when the magnet  is dipped in some iron fillings it  attracts at the poles of the magnet (ends of the magnet) where attraction is greater

3. when they are suspended freely  it always points to the north - south direction.

4. magnetic force between two magnets is greater  when the distance between them is lesser. as the distance gets greater the magnetic force decreases.
