Similarities:

  • Both aerobic and anaerobic respiration use glucose as their starting molecule.
  • ATP is produced in both reactions as their product.

Differences:

  • Oxygen is utilized in aerobic respiration, whereas anaerobic respiration don't require oxygen.
  • Anaerobic organisms tends to survive and produce energy without oxygen.
  • Along with ATP, aerobic reaction produce carbon dioxide and water as products, whereas lactic acid is the product of anaerobic reaction.
  • Lactic acids in large amount can be harmful, so it has to be transferred for in order to be broken down into molecules.
