The longest cells in the human body are the neurons that go from the skin into the spinal cord and up into the brain stem. The neuron is the basic working unit of the brain, a specialized cell designed to transmit information to other nerve cells, muscle, or gland cells. Neurons are cells within the nervous system that transmit information to other nerve cells, muscle, or gland cells via electrical impulses . Most neurons have a cell body, an axon, and dendrites.

The longest cell in the human body are NEURONS.

★Some neurons are 3 feet long. These include the neurons that go from the skin into the spinal cord and up into the brain stem.

★Their impressive length makes neurons the longest cells in the body .

★Neurons also hold the title of the longest living cells in the human body as well.

★white other cells in the body die and regenerate .many neurons remain the same throughout a person lifetime.

The nervous system of the human is composed of:

★specialized cells called neurons or nerve cells which can detect , receive and transmit different kinds of stimuli.

★Neuroglial cells are the supporting cells of neurons.

★The nerve fibres are certain bundles of extended projections of nerve cells.

★The human brain is made up of about 86 billion neurons and many more Neuroglial cells (more than 86 billion).

★A nerve cell is a microscopic structure consisting of three major parts namely , cell body, dendrites and axon.
