It is his loss of 100 Rupees.

We consider the profit as positive and loss as negative.

  1. Profit earned is Rs. 8 per toy and loss is Rs.5 per lorry.
  2. Total earned will be the sum of profit multiplied by the number of toys sold and loss multiplied by the number of lorries sold.
  3. Total money earned is (+8 * 300) + (-5 * 500) = 2400 - 2500 = -100
  4. Net income is negative that denotes loss.
