qx - py = 0

So qx = py

x = py / q ....... (I)

Putting value of x in enq.

m/x - n/ y = a

mq / py - n/y = a

1 /y ( mq - np ) / p = a

1/y = ap / (mq - np)

y = mq - np / ap

By putting the value of y in eqn (I)

We get x = mq - np / aq

Given equations

\frac{m}{x}-\frac{n}{y}=a, ...................(1)

px-qy=0  ................(2)

We use the substitution method for solving this problem

From equation (2), we get

px-qy=0\\\Rightarrow y=\frac{px}{q}.................(3)

Now substitute (3) in (1) and we get

\frac{m}{x}-\frac{n}{\frac{px}{q}}=a\\\Rightarrow \frac{m}{x}-\frac{nq}{px}=a\\\Rightarrow \frac{pm-nq}{px}=a\\\Rightarrow x=\frac{pm-nq}{pa}

Therefore, x=\frac{pm-nq}{pa} and y=\frac{px}{q} .
