Answer:
Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader A.K. Antony has called for united efforts to keep at bay divisive forces, which threaten to destroy the harmony in the country.
Inaugurating the State-level Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the Central Stadium here on Friday, Mr. Antony said that the declaration by the United Nations to observe October 2 as the International Day of Non-Violence was an endorsement of the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi by the international community.
“Gandhiji had always chosen non-violence for all his struggles, despite facing many odds. His sacrifices brought the country together to fight for a single cause. His ability to unite the country in the face of adversity was itself a great victory, one that couldn’t be managed in the past,” he said.
