Yes the statement is correct. Plants make their own food by absorbing sunlight , water and minerals, CO2  . the process of making of food in plants is called photosynthesis and by this process plants make their own food whereas we also can't make our own food ,we go to market to purchase food items which we get from plants . And we just cook them to eat . This the difference of plant food and our food .

We are heterotrophs and thus, require to purchase raw materials from the market to cook food. Whereas, plants are autotrophs and prepare their OWN food with the help of photosynthesis.
