Every organisation has several functional areas or departments, e.g. production, marketing, finance etc. For the smooth functioning of a business enterprise, these functional areas are interrelated and interdependent. Sometimes the functions also overlap one another as there cannot be rigid boundaries in a seamless operation.
If for instance the sales people can sell X quantity of an article, then the marketing people may try to boost that to X+100 by effective promotional tools after checking the fund allocation with the finance people and so on.
