some the prominent religious reformers of the nationalism period were Raja Rammohan Roy ,Jyotibha Phule, Swami Dayanand Saraswati and mamy more..
raja rammohan roy wanted to do away with the religious and social evils which were prevalent in bengal...he founded the brahmo samaj. which believed in monotheism.it condemned idol worship and laid emphasis on prayer , meditation and charity.another great reformer was jyotibha phule who founded the satya shodhak samaj.he pioneered widow remarriage and worked for education for women...the impact of the western education led to the rational , humanitarian and scientific approach to life made the educated indians realise the need to reform their religion and society
