Many million years ago, India was a part of the super continent a. Gondwana.

Gondwana was a super continent that broke up into landmasses about 180 million years ago.

The continent eventually split into smaller continents that we know today.

All the landmasses of southern hemisphere including Africa, South America, Antarctica, Australia, New Zealand, Madgascar and the Indian subcontinent as well as Arabian Peninsula were all a part of the super continent of Gondwana.
