Mass of 6.022 × 10²³ atoms of carbon = 12g

Mass of one atom of carbon = 12/6.022×10²³

                                               = 1.99 × 10⁻²³g

1 amu is the mass of 1/12 th of carbon 12

=1.99 × 10⁻²³/12

=1.66×10⁻²⁴g is value of 1 amu
