Rational Numbers :

  • ➟ The numbers of the form \frac{p}{q}, where p and q are integers and q ≠ 0, are called rational numbers.

Examples :

  • Each of the numbers \frac{5}{8},\frac{-2}{5},\frac{4}{-7},\frac{-11}{-13} is a rational number.

  • Every natural and whole number is a rational number, as we can write :

ㅤㅤ➟ 5=\frac{5}{1},12=\frac{12}{1},24=\frac{24}{1}, etc.

  • In general, if n is a natural number then we can write n is equal to \frac{n}{1} which is rational.

  • Every integer is a rational numbers, since every integer a can be written as \frac{a}{1}.
