maximum number of electrons in s-orbital and d-orbitals is equal to 2 and 10 respectively. Why ?

because...s orbital is only one orbital(i.e, s orbital). we know that each orbital can hold only 2electrons.therefore, s orbital has 2electrons.
similarly,d-orbital is of 5 orbitals.so,it holds 10electrons(5x2=10)
